Rick Spence is a Toronto-based business writer, speaker and consultant dedicated to helping businesses grow. He is the former editor and publisher of PROFIT, the magazine for Canadian Entrepreneurs, where he was responsible for all the business operations, strategy, planning and marketing plus circulation, sales, promotion and administration. He currently writes regular columns on entrepreneurship and growth for PROFIT, MoneySense magazine and the National Post.
He wrote the first Canadian book on growth business (Secrets of Success from Canada’s Fastest-Growing Companies, 1997). Rick has taught “New Venture Startup” at Ryerson University.
Rick sits on the board of a Toronto-based geophysical software, which gives him hands-on experience in leadership, strategic planning, sales, marketing, finance, IT, recruiting and talent management, and R&D.
And as a consultant for a number of small businesses (a client has appeared on the Rachael Ray show!), he has a deep background in the varying challenges facing small business owners today.
Rick believes that entrepreneurship is the most important force in society today for innovation, economic growth and individual achievement.
