Biography
John Young is known for his sense of people and what makes consumers click. An intuitive and perceptive thinker he draws on over 25 years of experience and research in counseling SMBs (small/medium businesses) running multi-divisional newspaper chains and creating remarkable customer experiences through innovative experiential marketing ideas. His creative bent has been the cornerstone of this diverse career.
John’s early work in the newspaper industry coupled with his keen sense of what consumers want became his foundation as a crack advertising sales manager and later a group publisher for the Southam Publishing conglomerate. From the early 80’s to the mid 90’s John managed or published over a dozen community newspapers and a variety of award winning supplemental and magazine ideas.
In the mid 90’s he formed JCY associates, a business and marketing consultancy focusing primarily on creating remarkable customer experiences as well as marketing strategies and advertising for his clients.
His passion for business and speaking helped form the backbone of the Business Basics and Genesis programs at Niagara College. His entertaining seminars on business development, client satisfaction, marketing, and entrepreneurship consistently drew maximum ratings.
For 8 years, John facilitated monthly bank panels and taught business courses addressing the needs of new entrepreneurs through challenging and enlivened sessions with peers from BMO, RBC, Scotia Bank and the BDC.
As an active Certified Business Counselor under the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, (an international body of institutes of business counselors), his APEC-CBC designation allows him to counsel in Canada and other participating global economies.
While JCY associates continues serving its marketing and business clients, since the millennium John has moved into the speaking arena. Through his customized keynotes, seminars, and workshops he dares his audiences to choreograph ultimate customer experiences therein creating “the will to buy”. His articles are regularly featured in business publications and e-zines and his acclaimed webinars are consistently attended by people from coast to coast.
