Dr. Karyn Gordon is one of North America's leading authorities on understanding and motivating Generation Y. She is frequently interviewed by national media (Entertainment Tonight Canada, Globe & Mail, National Post, Maclean's, Much Music) and speaks to national corporations (Maple Leaf Foods, Motorola, Doritos, PepsiCo, etc.) to provide insight into connecting and motivating Generation Y.

A Youth and Generation Y expert, corporate and family consultant, motivational speaker, and author, Dr. Karyn's style is dynamic and inspiring. Her gift is communicating playfully, passionately and pragmatically. Dr. Karyn's mission is to truly understand what makes Generation Y 'tick' (deciphering their thoughts, feelings, and actions) so she can help them and those who work with them (families & companies) understand and motivate them to reach their greatest leadership potential.

Over the last 10 years, Dr. Karyn has done extensive media work related to helping others understand Generation Y. For the last four years, Dr. Karyn has been the expert on the national TV show, “The Mom Show”.  She has also shared her advice on her own radio talk-show, “Bridging the Gap”, (Newstalk 1010 CFRB) and in Canadian Living Magazine.  For three years she hosted and executive produced her own international music talk-show “Spill Your Guts”, (Global Canwest), interviewing top rock stars and celebrities (Sum 41, Vince Carter, 98 Degrees, Matchbox 20) about their personal obstacles and the lessons they learned as teenagers.  She is also a regular contributor to several TV shows (Entertainment Tonight Canada, Globlal Canwest, Breakfast Television) about understanding this generation.

Biography

For 12 years, she has consulted with youth and their parents at her private practice. Her unique and ‘out of the box’ wellness studio, called ‘dkb coaching & wellness studio’ is in the Upper Beaches, Toronto. She has spent over 7,000 hours there listening to Generation Ys sharing their experiences and stories, and offering wisdom and insight in return.

What began as a mission to empower Generation Y to understand and reach their full potential has grown tremendously; Dr. Karyn is called by leaders of every walk of life who want to understand this generation. Presidents, corporate executives, psychologists, teachers, parents, physicians, pastors, entertainers and marketing executives have all sought Dr. Karyn for her expertise. Dr. Karyn has spoken to many diverse audiences: corporations and marketing conferences, over 1000 private and public high schools, graduate university classes, teachers’ conferences, therapists’ associations, parent associations, guidance school conferences and churches. She has spoken to more than 200,000 Generation Y’s and those who work with them.

Dr. Karyn’s speaking tours have been sponsored by Pepsi, Pizza, Motorola and Muskoka Woods Sports Resort. Her speaking tours for parents have been sponsored for five years by Maple Leaf Foods. She is proud to serve on the board of directors for Motorola’s Raise Your Voice campaign for youth and is part of Indigo's well-respected national Trusted Advisory Program.

She has authored three resources: Analyse Yourself for Generation Y; Analyse Your Teen: 4 Part CD Series and Raising Healthy Teens in an Age of Over-Indulgence for parents of youth. Dr. Karyn is currently writing her fourth practical resource, Motivating Generation Y for corporations who hire within this generation.

Dr. Karyn has a Bachelor in Psychology, a Masters in Counselling and a Doctorate in Marriage and Family.

When Dr. Karyn is not working, she loves to travel, play with interior design (she and her husband were winners in the Canadian House & Home Design Contest, April 2008), and spend time with her twin boys and husband at home.
